How have windows influenced the way in which we interact with the city?

Windows are also openings into the city’s history; revealing layers of social, architectural and regulatory practices. This proposal aims to peel back the decades of changes Hong Kong has experienced through the design of windows, giving a look at the way they have shaped and been shaped by the development of the city.

The urban development of Hong Kong over the past few decades have been driven by a number of factors, each of which stand witness to a specific era in history. This exhibition looks at the way this has developed by focusing on the window and how it has been influenced by socio-economic factors, which then in turn influences the way the city engages with its architecture through the juxtaposition of various window typologies.
