How do you create a dwelling amidst a concrete jungle?

For a small apartment in Hong Kong, JOKE designed a space that flows seamlessly between the various functions of living, working, cooking, cleaning and sleep. The introduction of natural lighting into the main living spaces create a brightly lit interior, allowing sunlight to penetrate into all areas of the apartment.

Envisioning a free-flowing space, the design makes use of sliding doors as division to allow spaces to flow from one room to the other, creating a single living plane. In the original layout, the bathroom opens directly towards the living room, limiting the usable wall space for the living space. The design moves the bathroom door to one side, allowing the living room to be more flexible in its configuration.

The design creates a comfortable environment for the occupants through its free flow design and use of materials.
