How can we create an installation that can unite the city to experience the autumn night?
For an installation at Victoria Park during the Mid-Autumn Festival, we proposed a giant lantern made of light and mirror boxes. Unravelling in a spiral form, the design invites people to walk into the installation to experience the lantern as a community.

Openings through the lantern, created by the overlapping and juxtaposition of layers, create the richness of urbanity that defines the culture of the city. The design of the lantern absorbs people into its spatial consciousness, similar to films of a psychoanalytic nature.
The lantern acts as a unifying object provoking curiosity and excitement. Its design is a driving force to unite people together and an apparatus through which to experience Hong Kong culture.
